CUT FLOWER CARE GUIDE
1. Place flowers in a clean container

A clean, sanitized container will prevent flowers from premature aging and stems getting clogged from debris. This will result in better water intake which will result in longer lasting flowers.
2. Cut about ½ an inch off the stems and strip foliage that will sit below water line before placing in water
Cutting the stems when you bring your bouquet home will allow for fresh, exposed tissue to take up water better. Stripping any foliage that will sit below the water line will prevent rotting to happen and allow for water to stay clear and clean. Please ensure to use clean, sharp scissors or pruners when cutting stems.
3. Continue to check the water and refresh often
Get flowers new water every 2-3 days. When refreshing water re-cut the stems to allow for optimal water intake.
4. Place flowers away from direct sunlight or ripen fruit/vegetables if possible.
Direct sunlight will allow for flowers to further mature, decreasing their vase life. Ripe fruits/vegetables release ethylene that can affect the flowers and cause wilting.
5. Use flower food and preservative.
Some of the flower in your bouquets such as sunflowers and zinnias don't like commercial grade flower food. You can make your own solution from common household ingredients to get your flowers the food they need. See recipe below:
